Lord & Moses
Searching The Scriptures
Allow me to introduce myself. The name is John Robert Moses; I go by the nickname Bob. For over thirty years I have written Bible Studies for weekly newspapers. I am what would be considered today, as a lay-minister. I did not finish seminary, I have not been ordained by any church. What knowledge and understanding I possess comes as a direct result of the grace of God through the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit. It is the Holy Spirit who bestows knowledge, wisdom, and understanding of the Holy Scriptures, and I might add, at least in my personal experience, that He does not grant it easily. A humble and contrite spirit are prerequisites, and these come as a direct result of the human experience, both good and bad.
It is important that you know where I stand doctrinally. While I try to maintain an open mind, acknowledging that God in His infinite wisdom uses various ways and means to attract His chosen, I am persuaded that certain precepts are never changing. That God is not the author of confusion, and that He never changes. The manner in which He deals with you or me may vary because of our earthly experience but the truth being taught is righteous, holy and unswerving.
You will readily discover that I am fundamental in my belief. This means that I believe in the basic doctrines such as Jesus Christ is the Son of God. I believe in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. The virgin birth, the Trinity and that the Holy Bible is the infallible word of God. I subscribe to the doctrine of dispensationalism in its general use, which means that God deals with man in different ways in different times. His manner in dealing with Moses and the children of Israel is not the same manner in which he deals with us. I believe in pre-millennialism, that Jesus will return and call-out His bride, the church, before He sets up his millennial or 1000 year reign upon the earth. I believe in types, that Joseph is a picture of Jesus, along with Moses, and many others. And I believe in election, pre-destination, and the security of the believer. All of these we shall explore in the weeks and months ahead. It is my intention to share with you the whys and wherefores of these basic Biblical precepts as they have been revealed to me.
I do not intend to merely discuss the written word, or to re-read scriptures that you have heard time and time again, but rather, with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, to explore and discern the ways of God, to humble and spiritualize both writer and reader. This calling is one of testimony, not proof, on those subjects which eye hath not seen, but which are revealed by God’s Spirit, through faith. My plea to my readers is to forgive me, if in my attempt to do the right thing; I speak the truth in the wrong way. In this work I seek to please God and to glorify our Lord. Your prayers are needed, your comments welcome.
You will find attached my Commentary on the Epistle of Jude. It is my prayer that you find it worthy of your time to read it.
